Drumsticks Curry
Drumsticks curry is one of the famous dishes prepared in southern part of India. Many are unaware of great nutritional values provided by this vegetable. Read this if you want to learn more about Drumsticks.
Ingredients:
Peeled drumsticks cut into bits of 2 to 3 inch.
2 cups large potatoes chopped into medium pieces.
1 cup chopped Tomato
2 table spoon Coriander Powder
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1/ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ cup Green Peas
5 to 6 Curry leaves
3 table spoons cooking oil
1 tsp salt (as required)
For Hara Masala
1 cup chopped Onion
1/2 cup Grated Coconut (preferably fresh)
1 tsp Cumin powder
½ tsp Garam Masala
2 tsp Red Chilli Powder (reduce if you don’t want to make it too spicy)
1 table spoon fresh Coriander leaves chopped
2 tsp Ginger,
2 tsp Garlic
Add little water and make a fine paste from above 8 items. Keep it aside.
Method:
1. Heat heavy bottomed pan and add cooking oil. When the oil is hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and Hara Masala Mix well and saute for about 3 minutes.
2. Add pieces of Drumsticks and potatoes, mix well and saute for 5 more minutes.
3. Add some water to items to immerse content in the pan and place lid on the pan.
4. Cook on high flame for about 3 to 4 minutes and then on simmer for about 5 minutes till potatoes and drumsticks are cooked.
5. Lower the flame, add chopped tomato, Green Peas, Salt and Coriander powder. Leave it low heat for about 5 more minutes
Drumstick curry is ready. Enjoy with Rice or Roti.
